#MyHouseology x One Girl Band

With workspace styling becoming a major interior obsession, we’ve teamed up with ultimate girlboss Lola Hoad of One Girl Band for the second instalment of our #MyHouseology series. A creative co-workspace for female entrepreneurs, One Girl Band unites female business owners in a supportive and inspiring co-working space. Perfect for the busy freelancer, OGB allows women to work, create and collaborate all in one uber stylish space.

Founded in 2015 by writer and creative business coach Lola Hoad, One Girl Band was born from a series of blog posts by Lola herself. Sharing her journey as a self taught designer, Lola took to Instagram to host a variety of live Q&A sessions with business as the main topic. With her honesty and openness, Lola’s approaching in engaging with other female creatives was gaining momentum and she knew it was time to take One Girl Band out into the real world.

Relocating from Brighton to Glasgow at the start of 2019, One Girl Band is now housed in Axiom Warehouse, a stylish third-floor unit filled not only with natural-light and Scandinavian inspired designer furniture from Houseology. Hand-picked by Lola herself, the One Girl Band workspace aesthetic has a cool, minimalistic Scandic vibe. Featuring products from Case Furniture, Muuto, Normann Copenhagen and more, the One Girl Band co-working space is full of iconic design pieces.

The main element of One Girl Band is to provide support to freelance women in business in order to combat feelings of loneliness and isolation. Identifying the need for connection, support and empowerment many female business owners desired, Lola started to host regular meet-ups and coffee mornings where women from a plethora of backgrounds came together to communicate, create and collaborate.

From designer to developers, writers, artists, photographers and more, One Girl Band champions women who are self-employed whist maintaining an aura of cool girl style.

With an abundance of light flooding the warehouse, the space is naturally bright and uplifting, but including some additional desk lighting can help add a little ambience to each workspace area.

To help keep those using the workspace focused, productive and creative, we incorporated the brand new Mouro Portable LED Lamp from Case Furniture. Designed by Patricia Perez, the Mouro Lamp plays with geometric forms in a clever and contemporary manner. Adjustable and highly adaptable, this petite lamp has a 3 setting dimmable function and 360-degree rotation, making it the perfect addition to any stylish desk.

As an open plan warehouse unit, the One Girl Band workspace had to have multiple different breakout areas alongside the individual desk areas to ensure the whole space was used effectively. From stylish yet sophisticated meeting areas to relaxing spaces with plush sofas and soft rugs, it was important in the room styling process to ensure the whole space felt safe, comfortable and stylish.

The white backdrop, mirrored walls and grey flooring provided the perfect blank canvas for our #MyHouseology x One Girl Band workspace design. In keeping with the neutral tones of the space, the colour palette for this project consisted of soft greys and ivory with accents of white oak and brushed brass for added sophistication. The One Girl Band co-working space has come full circle, from uniting empowered women to uniting designer elegance all under one super stylish roof.
